Yummy Back To School Snack Ideas!

Moms all over the country and singing hallelujah this week!  BACK TO SCHOOL!

It can be bitter sweet.  I know for me, I LOVE having my kids home, but I also LOVE sending them back to school.  Routine, focus, and well they need it. And so do we!

But fueling your kids for the school year can be stressful.  We put together some fun lunchbox snacks that will keep them satisfied, 

Since some schools have a no nut policy, these may not all pertain.  Please follow your school’s policy.  🙂

Keeping your kids hydrated with great nutrition will keep them focused and ready to go.  But it doesn’t have to taste bad!  Creating healthy habits starts at home.  What we can control, should be clean and delish.  There will be lots of times we can not control exactly what they are putting in their mouths.  So let’s start here. 

 

BRAIN POWER!

Did you know that 75% of packaged food in the US contains added sugar?  And a diet high in processed foods and sugars can increase the risk for anxiety and depression.  So let’s start now, right here, this school year.  Make it the best one yet!

 

Here are some great lunchbox snack ideas:
  • Sliced turkey rolls around a cheese stick
  • Yogurt and granola with a drizzle of honey.  (can add berries too!)
  • Trail mix (if nuts are allowed) (Trader Joe’s has single serving packets!)
  • Roasted ChickPeas
  • Homemade zucchini or sweet potato chips
  • Cheese and fruit kabobs
  • Pasta salad
  • Chips and guacamole
  • Sliced turkey roll ups with avocado

 

These are a HUGE hit in Clean Cut homes.  Your kids are sure to LOVE these energy balls! 

Create your own with this simple to follow base!

Clean Cut Energy Balls

  • 2 cups gluten free rolled oats
  • 1 cup nut butter (use sunflower butter if allergies)
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup or honey
  • ½ C flax meal

Add ins.  Pick one, 2 or more!

  • 2 T chia seeds
  • 1/3 cup raisins
  • ⅓ C chocolate chips
  • 2 T coconut flakes
  • ¼ C sunflower seeds

Mix your base in a food processor or by hand.  Then stir in your add ins of choice. You may have to add or subtract some add ins or add some base to form the right consistency for your add ins.  

Roll into balls and place onto parchment paper. 

Placing in the refrigerator will help firm.   These can also be frozen.
