The Hype Over Pink Himalayan Salt

Whats all this hype over pink Himalayan salt?

Where does it even come from?  The pink Himalayan salt beds were covered by lava and then ice and snow for thousands of years. The salt was protected from modern day pollution and preserved in an untouched, pristine environment.  This is why it is known as the purest salt.

Why does the body need salt?

Sodium chloride is an essential trace mineral found in salt. The body needs this for a variety of functions.

It can support:

  • contracting and relaxing muscles
  • maintaining proper fluid balance and prevent dehydration
  • sending nervous system impulses
  • preventing low blood pressure
  • Balance body PH level
  • Improves respiratory health

What is the difference between table salt and sea salts? (Like Pink Himalayan and Keltic salt)

Table salt is highly processed and stripped of all minerals except sodium chloride. The process of stripping and adding in anti-clumping agents and aluminum (a heavy metal) changes how the sodium reacts in your body.  It causes higher blood pressure and digestive issues. The additive can become toxic in your body.  At Clean Cut we try to avoid processed, so looking for pure salt is important in our world!

Real sea salts react differently in your body.  Pink Himalayan salt have 90% sodium chloride and 10% of other trace minerals, like magnesium and potassium.  These minerals work together to create balance. It’s not these trace minerals that we are saying add up to health benefits, it’s the compound and how it reacts in your body.  We need sodium and iodine to function correctly. Pink Himalayan salt It is not processed and has no additives. It has been proven to improve respiratory health.

Think about how you feel when you are near the ocean.

The salty air helps you breathe better and relax you. Natural salts help push things down and out through your urine, detoxifying your system. It also balances your PH and fluid levels. It helps dry things our keeping you healthier.  Some believe that adding a pinch of pink salt to meals or drinks can help the body achieve optimal fluid balance and prevent dehydration. I can say from my own experience since I started using pink salt in ever 20 oz cup of water throughout the day and on my food I feel hydrated.  I always had a dull headache and since I starting this experiment it has gone away. So from my experience it does do the trick for fluid balance. Studies I have read say it helps with intracellular hydration, letting your cells absorb the water in your body instead of resting under the skin.

Research has suggested that eating salt can reduce the risk of infection and kill harmful bacteria.  We were always told to gargle with salt water if your throat hurt or jump in the ocean if you had a cold or a cut because salt does have healing properties.  There is truth in that!!  #backtobasics

Conclusion:  We need salt, so why not use one that still contains trace elements that create compounds to give our bodies the benefits of sodium it needs?!  That is a no brainer in the Clean Cut World!
