Fun Facts About Cilantro And Why It Should Be In Your Diet

We hope you love it because this herb has some amazing benefits beside making guacamole yummy.

Cilantro, Spanish for coriander (the seed) is packed with vitamins, dietary fiber, antioxidants and is a diuretic (controls insulin levels) and the list goes one.  In just 9 sprigs of this 2,000-year-old herb, contains 104 milligrams of potassium, which aids in regulating blood pressure and 13 milligrams of calcium (you’ve got it we don’t need dairy for calcium).  It also has 62 micrograms of Vitamin K for strong bones and blood clotting and 27% of our daily intake of Vitamin A (beta Carotene-vision) along with vitamin C (anti-inflammatory), yes all in one herb.

Some other fun little facts about this herb are it actually aids in digestion and can relieve gas pains and because its an anti-inflammatory it can help in the treatments of urinary tract infections, yup add it to your cranberry juice;) Because this herb is so packed with vitamins it can also relieve stress, headaches and nausea.

These are all great right?  It gets better.  Cilantro contains phytochemicals that prevent cancer and other chronic diseases.  It’s such a powerful herb the National Cancer Institute marked it as an anti-cancer and cholesterol lowering herb.

So next time you shun cilantro maybe you will find it hits your taste buds a little differently knowing the power it has.

Add to a salad, eggs, soups, dips, we can go on and on!!!!
